We are generally not big cake eaters but my French friend and son arrived after visiting family at Pau with a box of macaroons. Personally I thought with their vibrant colours, pinks, browns and green they did not look appealing. I was wrong as they have a delicious taste, the lemon tastes a bit like a tarte citron, the coffee like coffee cake but I will never turn up my nose at French macaroons again. We all have one each left for today. I might try the pistache.
