"and when I looked the moon had turned to ...pink??"

So all those blue moon songs could be knocked sideways tonight (Friday 13th June) because today is a full moon. Apparently when the moon rise and sunset coincide and the moon is full the lovely rosy glow we see in the evening can make the moon look red. This evening sunset is at 21.38 and with luck the moon rising in the east will be more or less in direct line with the sun/earth and low above the horizon will appear red. For stats anoraks the last time Friday 13th June had a full moon was 1919 and if you miss tonight you will have to wait until 2098. No doubt the astrologers out there will have some significance to the date and lunar activity. Apparently the Algonquin tribes called the June full moon the "Strawberry Moon" - quite romantic really.
