A new poverty map of France

A new poverty map of France unveiled today shows areas around Paris and the North  are classed " in the poor zone"
Poverty is heavily concentrated in France's Nord and Pas de Calais areas, which include the city of Roubaix, long known as ground zero for France's less privileged. These areas, like many formerly industrial places, have struggled to recover from France’s declining industrial base.
Val says I know Roubaix, it is where I went on a French exchange when I was13, and have visited often, my French friend still lives there.
The town was twinned with Middlesbrough, both places had declining industries then and both towns are now poverty towns, with high levels of unemployment.
Let us hope that the government will now pump money into these stricken areas in Northern France and an area around Marseille.
