Malc and I both feel strongly that we need to help as much as we can with the refugees. We can raise money and help collect clothes and bedding, but we cannot build houses at Calais like Sid and Laura have been doing.
We do however as you all know have an empty house, the gite.
How can we not offer it for the winter to a family sleeping if they are lucky in a tent, unlucky on the streets. We have two contacts, one at Toulouse who is researching the possibility of rehoming a family over winter, could be Syrian, Tchechens, Albinian or Bulgarian. Must look these countries up and learn more about them.
... but then I have just had an urgent message from Ali at Calais to say they are trying to find a home for a mother with a one day old baby!
Why am I telling you? because if you have an empty gite why not offer?
