Senate rejects bee plea

The risk to bees in France has been widely reported (not least on Taglines) and according to the national beekeepers' association (UNAF) 2014 was the worst on record for honey production, with only about 10000 tonnes against 34000 tonnes 20 years ago. The decline is claimed to be the result of néonicotinoïdes in pesticides which has been decimating bee colonies.
UNAF had asked the government via a senate resolution to initiate a Europe-wide ban on the pesticides after a moratorium expires in July, but the Senate rejected the request.
