Preparez vos crêpes

Today is Chandeleur,  not the day before the start of Lent (la Carême) but it is a day when traditionally one eats crêpes (pancakes). British readers will remember that Lent starts with Shrove Tuesday 17th February), when pancakes are also on the menu. We at Mas del Sol traditionally have a debate about what topping is best for the dish: Val likes sweet, especially golden syrup; Malc prefers lemon. Any preferences readers?

Well! So many of you have pointed  out that Shrove Tuesday is 17th February that the sub-editor stands condemned of sloppy journalism. But today is Chandeleur, when the French have their crepes - so those who fancy having them twice; go ahead.
Ginny points out that French people, along with many others will celebrate Mardi Gras (lit. fat Tuesday) on 17th with carnivals.
Our calendar says that Shrove Tuesday is 17th February - so don't get the pans out for 2 more weeks. (Unless you want pancakes twice this month - why not?)

We prefer sugar and lemon on ours, can't wait (whenever it is).
