Mas del Sol, field news

It was frosty but  thank goodness the sun came out as at ten o' clock we were out in the fields catching donkeys to await a visit from the marechal/ blacksmith. We had called in the service of Yves Rotte from near La Fouillade as he had been so helpful offering his services to the abandoned donkey before Christmas.
The sun warmed us and  the iced ear tips and manes of the donkeys began to thaw as did our fingers and toes.
The donkeys were generally well behaved, Filou the "big ugly chap" did a bit of pushing and shoving, he is a hefty chap but soon calmed when he realised there was nothing to fear. Lucy as always likes to be close to and oversee any action in the hut. She is like an old granny nodding her approval at the completion of each sabot/ hoof... or is that me? My donkeys must be tone deaf as they like me to sing to them to cover the noise of the rasping saw or file.
Mr Jeager of Henley would have been distraught to see each donkey resting a dusty head against my new coat, which now has the distinct smell of donkey about it.

Lucy gives her approval to Rosie's sabot, look how tiny that little hoof is.

Coco awaiting his turn, listening to  a story about naughty donkeys
