Bonny has been off colour, off her food and lethargic for about 3 days, another visit to the vet needed to discover she is having a second attack of pyro plasmosis. The ticks are still being found on her and infact we discovered another whilst in the vets. She is totally recovered from her first attack, but this is her second attack with the same symptoms. She had had tick treatments, wears a tick collar, we check her regularly but still this happens.
She has had numerous injections and once again we have follow up tablets. The vet was concerned about how tender her stomache felt but even so thought she would make a full recovery.
I have just said to Malc " do you feel these ticks will get her in the end?" and he agreed he felt like that.
I have read on other sites on facebook that dog and horse owners are all experiencing the worst tick year in memory. Fortunately the donkeys seem to be OK, none of them are off their food!
