Toulouse economist wins Nobel prize

Jean Tirole is a professor of economics at the eponymous Toulouse school and has been awarded the Nobel Prize for economics by the Swedish academy.
His work concerns the effects of markets and he thinks the French labour market is "catastrophic", but is not a "French basher" citing large French companies as being successful. A pool of "human capital" is available and a network of small and medium enterprises ready to expand.
Manuel Valls, the prime minister, has said that 2 Nobel prizes this week are a "pied de nez"* to those denigrators of France
