Local news

Chris Robinson tells me that the book swap went well, plenty of books, plenty of readers. He was
surprised how early people arrived, as when he arrived at 10.30 two tables were already full of books with interested borrowers.

Today Malc and I are hosting our " cafe and conversation" coffee morning with a mix of local French couples and English language speakers of the village who want to improve their French language skills. Only French will be spoken so we are expecting lots of giggles and misunderstandings and friendships being made overcoming language barriers. The initial idea was Marcia Scotts, a Dutch lady who is an excellent English and French language speaker and is now on the council. One of her aims is to encourage integration between the groups of the commune.
As well as improving our language skills we will learn the extent of our commune over the next few months taking coffee around the commune of Varen.
The next morning " café and conversation" will be at St. Martiel on the 25th of November at 10.30 at the home of the Browns.
