What's in a name?

There is a small village to the south of Paris called Morts aux Juifs - literally "death to the Jews" or "death of the Jews". The name has existed since the middle ages and sporadically since the war has given rise to demands that it be changed. Since any change would need to be agreed by the maire and municipal council, who are opposed to it, any change is unlikely.
Unfortunate place names abound in all countries and in Spain a village with a similar name changed it from "death of the Jews" to "hill of the Jews".
