Update on the 120 Femmes

Just about 12 months ago we asked if any readers would support a scheme in Mali in which 120 local women needed help to set up a communal garden to grow produce to support themselves and their families. The women gardeners would consume what they needed and sell any surplus in the market.
The scheme was supported  by Via Sahel, the charity for which we and Taglines readers have raised so much money in recent years.
Winnie Nosal tells us that 84 French and other European women paid their 20 euros (we know several readers in the UK and elsewhere contributed) and that along with a very generous donation from Gaillac Rotary the women of the Sangha garden scheme were able to buy the seeds and tools they needed and the well is producing the essential water.
Jean Marie Nosal in a trip to Mali earlier this year had some video footage shot, but it is too disorganised to post at present. Malc and Jean Marie hope to edit the film into something we can post on YouTube and Taglines in due course.
If any readers would like to become a "marraine" (patron) please get in touch with Winnie at nosalw@wanadoo.fr
