Is tipping the waiter dying out?

A study by TripAdvisor  indicates that more than 15% of French café customers never leave a tip - more than double last year's figure. Paying with credit cards is one reason people often have no small change, but the feeling that a) tips should reward service and b) the servers are paid a salary and dont need a tip is quite common. Tourists are more likely to leave a tip, especially Americans for whom not to tip a waiter would be unthinkable (try doing it in New York!).
