Champagne magnate dies

Nicolas Feuillatte, the French champagne magnate who gave his name to the famous brand, died on Tuesday at the age of 88.

Born on January 29, 1926 in Paris, Nicolas Feuillatte worked as a coffee trader in the US, where he befriended A-list celebrities such as Lauren Bacall and Jackie Kennedy.

He returned to France in 1972 to buy 12 hectares of grapevines in Bouleuse, some 110 kilometres east of Paris, to produce his own champagne.
Interestingly Lauren Bacall has just died, she was fabulous wasn't she?
