Cazelles' Cross

In between St. Martial and Mas del Sol is a cross dedicated to one of the Cazelles family. Most of the dedication is worn away leaving the cross with lovely tones of moss and  lichen. It is at and around  this cross that we all enjoy some of our best walks. The dogs love it as there are open fields with rabbits to chase and woods to snuffle in. Malc and I love it as in the spring there are fields of orchids and in late spring banks along the roadside of  sweet peas and honeysuckle, as there was this morning.
A few years ago we decided if ever there was a spot to spend eternity this was the one for us. No traffic noise, just bird song and calm beautiful landscapes and the fact that with the dogs we have spent so many happy times there we felt it was an ideal place to rest. To my younger readers this may seem rather a morbid subject but in fact for us we have a serenity and sense of peace knowing where our spirits will be.
In France you cannot go scattering ashes willy, nilly around the countryside and it maybe we would never get permission to scatter ashes there. That does not matter, it is the knowledge that we will mentally have our spirits in that spot which is the important thing. .. and as I have mentioned earlier that little beggar Daisy should already be waiting there for us.
