Top cheesemonger is French

Apparently a "cheesemonger" is someone who sells cheese, not someone who makes it. There has been a world championship since 2013 (a veritable institution..) which was won shock horror in 2014 by a Japanese.
Held last week in Tours the honour of the country of 300 cheeses was reclaimed by Fabien Degoulet, a 31 year old from Le Mans. Cheesemongers from over a dozen countries took part, including USA, Japan and France. The contestants were judged on their theoretical knowledge, plus their ability to identify cheeses by taste; to cut the cheeses; to prepare a dish; to present a cheese selection.
It was a bit disappointing to read that although M Degoulet is French he actually works in Japan.
No mention was made of Cheddar and Branston sandwiches, or Wensleydale.
