or is it? A 31% increase in arms sales in 2013 to 6.3 billion euros has restored France to its place as 4th biggest arms exporter in the world (USA, UK and Russia on the podium) with the positive effect on jobs throughout the industry.
Of course there are those voices who think the whole business is suspect, with the main customers being in the middle east, where the major recent conflicts have taken place. Interestingly France has held up delivery of two multi billion euro aircraft carriers to Russia in protest at Russian involvement in the Ukraine - leading to worries about jobs in the shipyards.
