Varen have changed their summer petanque evenings to Friday. Malc plays on a Friday afternoon at Verfeil and then he goes at 8.30pm to play again in Varen. If he gets back late, around midnight I think he must be doing well, but more often he has tales of things "just going wrong". He got in last night after midnight so I am having his stories this morning. His normal partner Roger was still recovering from a long lunch out so could not make it and Andy Clench stepped in. The first game was with " Big Patrick" who whopped them 13- nil. Then a game against an old man and his equally old partner, the game was very close but the oldies ( not Malc) won through. The last game Malc says was played against a totally drunk young couple who still won. When I said on my mastery of the French language I must go back to the drawing board, I think that also applies to Malc with his boules.
Did you enjoy the evening I asked ? His reply , "very good night", so it is not always the winning but the taking part.
Malc says to me Do not tell anymore till I have a winning score next week!
