Funny thing about neighbours here.

Mentioning Monsieur Allaud [allo, allo,] as a neighbour on reflection might have been strange if we had  just come from England but now neighbours are in about a 3 kms range. René Allaud lives about 2 kms distance but still a close neighbour, the closest neighbours, just new arrivals [delightful French youngsters] are a field away. We have Dutch neighbours perhaps one kilometre away and across the valley we have two lots of  French neighbours, [often our dog finders and animal rescuers] But we are a close knit community, mainly French and some French  incomers, these of course are always moving into ''maisons familiales'' so houses belonging to relatives often from many years gone by.
Quite different if you live in a village, then you may have real next door neighbours, but you pays your money and you takes your choice, splendid near isolation or village life.
