Our penultimate cinema evening of the Winter season and with more reader participation than ever. Margo and Jelle a Dutch couple who live at Arnac provided what was meant to be aperos but ended up fine dining, with homemade tomato soup, followed by a large plate of prawns, pate, tortilla, salad, cheese and more, followed by chocolate cake, all very scrummy. Thank you Margo and the tomatoes in the soup were grown by Jelle.
Jeremy brought some wine to augment our rapidly depleting winter stock and of course everyone paid for the pleasure, 10 euros to go to Sautou.
The production of The Magic Flute was from 1983 and although the music and singing were superb the stage design was rather amusing, with some rather shabby monkey costumes making everyone smile.
At the start of the season we published the Operatic Calendar and invited any TAG reader to come along, and you did. We have made many new friends and passed the most enjoyable winter. I tentatively asked Malc "will we do it next winter" Bear in mind he gets dragged in to all my schemes, I was surprised at the positive reply, " Part of the calendar, now my love" Actually I added the my love bit, writer's licence.
I would quite like a happy Opera next year if there is such a thing, as sending friends home in tears has been a regular occurrence
Two people who won't be in tears are Jean Marie and Winnie Nosal when we give them this month's cheque for over 200 euros.
Our next and final evening is a break with Operatic tradition and we should have a giggle with "Mamma Mia sing along"
