Paddles, but no canoes

This weekend in the Place du Capitole, Toulouse, there will be the French Paddleball Open tournament. Called Padel (from the Spanish padel) the sport seems to be a cross between tennis and squash.
Courts with mesh or glass walls, which form part of the playing area, are to be erected in the Place in an effort to spread the popularity of the sport. Apparently growing fastest in Spain, with over 3 million players and played exclusively in doubles, using a smaller court and racquets than tennis, the event promises to provide an exciting spectacle for visitors to the ville rose.
