Photojournalism in Perpignan

We reported yesterday that a local photographer had been awarded a prize in the "Visa pour l'image" International Exhibition of Photojournalism held in Perpignan. By coincidence this morning's TV news had a report on the exhibition and showed some of the fabulous photos on display.
Photographers from all around the world are on show in various locations, with free entry each day until next Sunday (13th).
Naturally those professionals working for different media have different subjects - National Geographic has different demands to the New York Times and the on-the-spot photo can have iconic impact - just look at the flag at Iwo Jimo, the naked child fleeing in Vietnam, the dead child on the Turkish  beach; just some we remember seeing.
One photographer has worked on life in a war torn country - Syria - over the last four years and for those who wonder why people are fleeing perhaps a trip to Perpignan this week would be instructive.
Here is a link to the Exhibition's web site where some examples can be seen.
