A s we went into Varen this morning a big black old labrador dog ran out in the road in front of a car, then we watched as he did the same with the next car. I slammed on the brakes, shouting it's Monty, Roger's dog. Now Monty is deaf, so when I shouted Monty he ignored me. He had no collar on so I linked one of our dogs' leads around his neck and marched him home. Roger was not in so I left Monty in the garden.
Everyone we met I said if you see Roger tell him we have found Monty straying.
After doing all our shopping we walked our dogs by the river and running up to us came ... Monty. He must be able to get out of the garden we thought.
I put a lead on him again and walked him round to friend Jill's to ask " is this Monty?"
Although she agreed he was the spitting image of Monty, Roger had arrived home with Monty to discover a strange dog in his garden.
My next step was to take the dog over to the bar where the locals recognised the dog and phoned the owner... so happy result in the end.
Malc wishes I had never got in to dog rescuing!
