We live in a forest and just paid 70e for a (very small looking) stere of oak in 1m lengths. Works out well over a euro per metre which seems a lot so we'd like to try some other suppliers. We don't mind going to collect if it's local.

Anybody any ideas for wood suppliers who are not too expensive?
Val says we have neighbours who whenever they have a walk collect old branches and twigs. It always makes me mentally sing "Good King Wenceslas" for the line gathering winter fuel.
So what we need to know the name of wood suppliers and prices ?

Oh yes, Tara, Bella & I can be seen dragging huge branches down the lane after our walks, but 'scrumping' would have to be a fulltime occupation to keep a serious woodburner going well enough to heat a house all winter. Shame!
