You dutifully arrived at the book swap with your 5 books which were quickly snapped up and then I heard whispers" we could do with more books"
Judy said " I do have more in the car but did not dare bring them"
Someone said " I imagined you standing at the end of the tables with cane in hand ready to smack knuckles"
What a fearsome reputation I must have ( just keep quiet Malc)
I realise "take 5 " was just too drastic and will go back to saying "please bring only good clean new paperbacks"
We have a couple of bags full for next time and two bags went off to Sue Coombs to be picked up by Ginny Jenkins for the shop at Puycelsi.
Sue and Ed are happy to have more each time which they will take to a Cancer charity shop in England.
You will smile when I recount the next bit. Ed said to me I read on TAG " some woman tipped bags of good books into the poubelle, how could she ?" I had to admit it was me and I was rather sheepish about it.
The other thing that was funny but nice was a lady new to the swap, going round the tables in ecstasies saying "but this is marvellous, I love this, this is just wonderful"
The sun shone and people happily had their coffees and in our case a couple of croissants which were warm and buttery, can you ask for more?
Malc says "jam"
