The Mona Lisa could be for sale

With a national debt of 2000 billion euros it has been suggested that the French government could sell some of its art treasures, such as the Mona Lisa, the most iconic painting in the Louvre Museum. The Portugese government has decided to sell its collection of Miro art works for around 38 million euros. The Paris collection of Impressionist paintings is reckoned to be worth 4 billion euros - enough to clear the capital's debts.  Leonardo's painting would be worth a tidy sum, but doubts about the legality, let alone the morality, of such sales have made it an unlikely solution. Other public assets, however, could be up for grabs, and the Paris International Conference Centre is to become a top hotel owned by Qatari and Chinese interests. How about selling EDF?
