L'Eclat
L'Eclat is an association based in Varen, which exists to enliven the commune with three principal activities each year:
The Summer Exhibition: an exhibition of works by local and regional artisans, it runs each summer in the beautiful vaulted room beneath the chateau. This year the theme is 'L'Art en Ciel',
and it presents a rainbow of pieces, from glass and pottery to fabrics and paintings. Open every day from 3pm to 7pm, July 6 to August 31.
If you would like to become involved, to look after the exhibition with another volunteer, speak to Marie-Claude Grialet (05 63 65 47 74).
The Repas Nocturne, Thursday, July 17. Held every year in the court between the church and the castle (or in the Salle des Fetes if it rains), this is a very popular evening. A different band plays every year, during the meal and after, and the evening often finishes with dancing under the colored lights. To reserve a place, call 05 63 65 47 74 or 05 63 65 45 09.
The Vide-Grenier: this year on Sunday, July 27. Held along the banks of the Aveyron and up into the Place de la Halle, the vide-grenier attracts crowds every year. There's a buvette and sandwiches for sale. If you would like to empty your own attic you can reserve a stall (5 meters or 10 meters) by calling 05 63 65 47 74 or 05 63 65 45 09.
