Everyone was French and I thought great, this is really living with the French. The group were here to celebrate the Occitan Festival and the music was a mixture of country and spanish flavoured " pop" occitan with amplification. The principle singer in the group was a showman and comedian and told you about each song at length in obviously very comic terms, the crowd loved him. I could only understand every other word and certainly never understood the punch lines of his jokes. Malc afterwards said he struggled to understand and got the odd joke and he is a linguist and French graduate. I feel it is back to the drawing board for me and perhaps some more French lessons!

Hi Val
We were there too! Some lovely friends (French) had saved us seats right near the front - what a great night!
Sue and Trevor
Val says Sue and Trevor must have better French than us and the other English people who left early ! I think the uncomfortable benches at the back did not help us.
My daughter went last night to Henley Festival and saw The Beach Boys, she sent us a clip and I wish I had been there.

Hi Val
Certainly we were very lucky to get proper seats , the benches would have been very uncomfortable with my back. We arrived an hour early but even that would have been too late if our dancing friends had not saved seats and watched out for us.
As for our French - as always we by no means understood everything and missed lots of punchlines but loved the music and the ambience. There were lots of people there we knew and the atmosphere was great - we had just said goodbye to some English visitors and it was good to end the day on a high at a real French spectacle amongst friends.
