The Microsoft Windows Technical support call is a scam
A friend of mine in the UK parted with over a £100 (which he got back from the credit card company) only to have the cheeky Indian chap phone him back again some weeks later to try and get his new card details.
They are very persistent and become rude if you try to argue with them, just hung up is the best thing to do.
Re Windows XP support being withdrawn I've installed a FREE operating system called Linux on my very old Laptop which now works better then it did with XP!
There are other systems, the likes of Ubuntu & Debian out there and they will run along side Windows or on their own and because they are freeware or open source they are not attacked by hackers, so no security software needed!
