What a difference a day makes

Well,  what a difference 12 years can make in this instance in Varen. An ambience chaleureux  at the Mairie with The Mayor positively radiating bonhomie. Well,  I put the change all down to Marcia Scott who arranged this meeting, which was as much about what can we do for the village as it was about what the village could do for us.
The gathered throng of Northern Europeans ( the Mayor kept saying you people from the North, harder to understand than the Spanish or Italians who came here earlier) listened to the Maire and then listened to Marcia describing what was available in the village for us. Most understood but a man did say to me  on leaving "what went on then?"
I think the meeting was a great success, we all  now know Marcia Scott and know she is  sympa" and the person to take any problem to. We know the Mayor is wanting to help integration and I thought he came over on this particular evening as " a nice old buffer" trying to accomodate us " Northerners"
All in all, a meeting well received by all parties.
