This is why I enjoy shows

Val says remember when I had this post on TAG and at the time was hoping some one would pick up  the idea. Well Malc and I are not "slouches" if it seems a good idea we will have a crack. Something to draw all nationalities together, the ideal thing we thought and with Marcia, Julia and Nicole we have a great team, plus numerous other lady helpers. Le Salon du Jardin d' été is underway. Join us for some fun.( I have just read the final sentence of this post, are we mugs or what?)

When we lived at Henley, our local village Binfield Heath had a show at the end of August. It was such good fun and there were so many different categories. In 2001 Malc and I won first prize for our apples, first prize for our spicy chutney and second prize for our plums. It did help that our house had an established orchard and my Mother had a prize winning chutney recipe.
There was also things like competition for the best six legs which was you and your dog, sweet children with the scruffiest mutts won, although they were probably not many  scruffy mutts in Henley!
When we came we started the Varenly Regatta and look how that has grown. All we need is a person with lots of energy, a good spot to hold it and it could be away in no time.. and imagine how the French gardeners would like it.
There was a prize for the best cake and for 8 years this had been won by the same lady, that  year 2001 she came second and vowed she would never enter again, oops, these events are taken seriously.
Is that David Cameron admiring my plums, or is it just a look alike?
I bet Boris was there.
The end of the day finished with a dance, with a super band and everyone sat on bales of hay round the edges of the marquee. Although some of the older and posher crowd brought garden chairs.

Very tiring gardening, and the orchard took a lot of my free time. Why am I always seen with a book?
If anyone fancied starting a show TAG would help with promotion.
