More than you bargained for at ebay

Yet another theft of personal details from an internet company threatens our privacy. Employees of ebay are thought to be at fault for the massive theft of data, said to be the biggest in internet history. Names, email addresses and dated of birth of over 100 million users are thought to be in the public domain, though credit card and bank details are not. It is prudent if you are an ebay user to log on to their website and change your password. Beware of "phishing" attempts from people purporting to be ebay, or your bank or other companies asking you to change your password and details in emails. Following the links in such emails is a gateway to false sites. Always log on to your bank etc in the normal way, never by following links in emails claiming to be from them.
