To mark his two years in office Francois Hollande gave a wide ranging interview to BFM television (a news channel). He said France was "on the verge of bankruptcy" when he took over and the unpopular measures he has taken are "for the good of France". He was elected because Nicholas Sarkozy "had failed". The French people want quick action to reduce unemployment and he believes that stimulating the economy is the way, but it takes time to work. He repeated that if his policies have failed to work he will not run in 2017, but says "judge me then".
On his private life he said "it's private".
