Las Ramblas de Toulouse

The maire of Toulouse has proclaimed his vision of the Allees Jean Jaures as the ville rose's equivalent of Barcelona's famous street. Running from the Place Wilson to the Marengo arch the allees are a wide road, with two way traffic and parked cars, both above and below ground. The intention is to build a second underground car park and transform the middle into pedestrian areas.
As the street seems to be flanked by cheap hotels and office and residential blocks it will take some imagination to transform it into the lively and vibrant area known as Las Ramblas. But since the project is long term, by the time it is done Toulouse is likely to have Barcelona's climate, so why not its ambiance.
