We are used to reading of football managers resigning or being sacked, but rarely do they do so on the first day of the season. But that is what happened at Olympic Marseille yesterday. Argentinian coach Marcelo Bielsa stunned the post match press conference by announcing that he had already told the club president last week of his intention. He said his work was done at Marseille and he was going home. The club finished 4th in Ligue 1 last year, but lost their opening match 1-0 to Caen.
Of course champions PSG won their opening match.
