How do you sell your house?

I have two friends whose houses have been for sale at a reasonable price for many years, how do you get things moving. One friend says he feels he needs  to take matters in to his own hands and be proactive himself, and I agree.
We, just going into the market of selling our property have lots of ideas, we have chosen two estate agents initially but are going to start straight away, once Malc has the dossier complete. I will tailor what we are selling for different markets.
We have two houses which could be a home for you and another for visiting family and friends.
We have a home and a very steady income, the gite is so well "speced" it can be rented all year round and often is. It gives a very good income charging 1, 250 pounds a week in the high season.
For us now it is a life style we are selling. A home for us and our donkeys so I will be marketing on horse sites through out England and France.
Our advantage are the 360 degrees views, it really is breath taking in all the seasons at Mas del Sol.
If you are fed up with nothing happening give it a try marketing yourselves. You have nothing to lose and being proactive gives you a sense of being in control. The market is not good whatever we are told but maybe we can help ourselves a bit.
Remind me of this when we are still for sale in a couple of years!! and I will reply " but it is not for the want of trying"
