The life of a village returns

Dear Val and Malcolm,

There was an open evening today for the re-opening of the large building in the middle of Verfeil, just across from Le Seye et Vous.  Charming...so much so that I thought I would write the piece below for Tag on-line

Under the 14th century arches of the place de la halle in Verfeil-sur-Seye on Saturday evening, the new inhabitants invited the public for an apero.  After many years of being shut, one of the largest buildings in Verfeil, which is opposite La Seye et Vous, opened its doors. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting some of the young people who are planning to live there as a cooperative. Some have already arrived and are looking forward to getting the building ready to move into in about an month's time. One lovely young lady we spoke to was from Cyprus and studied Political Science in America.  Another was a young Frenchman who was born in Austria and tried hard to speak English with us.  We, on the other hand, were trying very hard to be understood while speaking French!

An altogether charming encounter which should have dispelled any reservations. It was lovely to see so many friendly, young faces, open to discussion, full of enthusiasm and for the village to see old building return to a useful life.

Val says this is wonderful to hear and I hope all the singles and families settle in with the aid and help of existing villagers. We know from our young neighbours over the road here what a  positive difference the youngsters can make to our lives.
Well done the Maire of Verfeil for being so welcoming.
