The birds have flown

As we were sitting breakfasting the last young kestrel fledged, fluttering rather than sweeping in to the acacia tree to join his siblings. Only four birds this year, but four healthy youngsters fledging, one a day since the first we found in the courtyard on Thursday. They will stay around for about a week in the trees being fed by parents. They do not return to the nest and will disappear off to find their own hunting fields, being ignored then by parents.
We will see them down on the power lines at kestrel corner and as each year I  say quietly " bye, bye my beauties, take care"
What a lovely start to the spring and summer, we will miss them.
