Circus as you've never seen it.

recalcitrant elephant
We have campaigned recently against live animals in the circus, but this evening we were confronted by a tiger who had had enough, an elephant who just refused to perform, plus various other cabaret acts who were more or less expert in their fields.
Happily this circus was on a miniature scale - that is to say they were puppets. A death defying tightrope walker, world champion unicyclist, opera diva, elegant ballerina and muppet like contortionist joined the above animals in the charming spectacle presented in the Salle des Fetes at Laguepie.
A company of three talented artistes played instruments, manipulated the puppets and kept an audience composed mainly of young children and parents (and us) amused for the best part of an hour - and all for the price of a contribution to the hat.
The company, called "De Menotte en Paluche" (don't ask!) were invited as part of the programme of cultural events to be held in the village at times other than in the usual summer festival period.
