Midsummer sur Lot

It seems like a murder drama filmed by Chabrol, based on a Simenon novel, but it is a true story in the small town of Goujounac, about 30kms from Cahors in the Lot.
Former marie of the town, entrepreneur Christian Belmon died in 2010, but had arranged that his extensive business interests were passed on evenly to his two children. Daughter Stéphan was to receive the estate agency, son Mathias the building firm, with the family quarry and vineyard (which produced high quality wines) being jointly administered.
On what would have been Christian's 61st birthday gendarmes were called to an elegant 5 story private residence in Cahors, where they found the murdered body of Stéphan. Her brother admitted killing her, though he denied planning the killing, despite having with him an electric stun gun and the rope used to strangle her. He claims he thought he would need these to make her sit and listen to his concerns about the running of the businesses.
The trial of the local architect, pillar of society, father of two is expected to run until 20th March at Cahors.
