Obi Wan Kenoboi, a TAG cat

Hi Val,
What wonderful news to hear about Coco the donkey, it's lovely to hear of animals finding new homes through TAG, especially at this time of year. To add to your Christmas animal stories,  here is an update on Obi Wan Kenobi, our TAG cat.
Earlier this year we already had a dog (Pepper), two cats (Tilly and Pippin), and two rescue puppies (Noodle and Gandalf) on the way the following week. However, we couldn’t resist the two kittens advertised on Tag, looking for a home. We tend to be of the opinion that there’s always room for one or two more!
Yoda and Obi Wan Kenobi (as the children called them) were very different characters, as evidenced by their entry into our home: Obi peeped quietly out of the cat box, while Yoda, came out to explore, but Obi soon followed, and both cats, once they’d got used to our lively household, proved to be friendly, playful, perfect new additions to the family.
Yoda was one of those tiny creatures with a big personality, into everything, confident and bold, always wanting to explore the world. One evening, as I called him in for the night, he chose to stay out instead. How  I wish I’d insisted that he came in – he was still very young – but we like our animals to enjoy the freedom of the garden as well as the comfort of the house, so I let him stay out, chasing mice and climbing trees - the nocturnal life that our two older cats enjoy. Unfortunately, on that very first night, Yoda was killed by an animal (a pine martin, we think). Our older cat, Pippin, was also attacked, and sustained horrible injuries. We think that he was hurt while trying to defend Yoda, and are really proud of him. He was traumatised by the ordeal and wouldn’t go out of the house for weeks afterwards, but happily has now made a full recovery.
Obi Wan, fortunately, has fared much better than his brother. The quieter of the two kittens, he has always preferred to stick closer to home, and can usually be found in the most comfortable spot – someone’s lap, the sofa in front of the fire, or cuddled up to the dogs or other cats. He’s one of the cosiest, cuddliest cats I’ve ever met, and I love watching him actively seeking out the affections of the children and our other animals. The picture I’ve attached is of him with one of the puppies, Noodle, from earlier in the summer, and he loves being groomed by her. I’ve never known a cat to so enjoy the attention of clumsy dogs and exuberant children – he even tolerates being tucked up into the doll’s pram and covered in baby blankets! I think that it was because he was so well socialised by Jane (who placed the TAG advert) as she also has three children.  And that is another nice aspect of this story – not only did TAG bring us our beautiful kittens, we also found new friends, as we have kept in touch with Jane and her lovely family!
So thank you, Val, for the marvellous work you do with TAG, which I think is an entertaining, informative local resource that brings communities together.
Love Debbie
Xx
Val says Debbie has been a great help to TAG ever since she arrived here in France. She writes and advises on our gardening column. She and John run Les Jardin des Espiemonts and even though she works really hard she has time for TAG.
You deserve a good pussy Debbie.  Oops Malc says " you cannot say that Val" so delete it please.
