Do you think owner Douglas had the dogs bed, the dog and the cat altogether in the washing machine and dryer just before taking the photo?
I have to remind myself ( for peace of mind) that our dogs and cats are country farm animals... they are always dirty! Bonny's paws are huge and made for digging it would seem and each time I wash her bedding she brings in half the field on her paws.
