Llafranc in the Costa Brava

Hotel Llevant

A journey from Tarn and Garonne of about four and a half hours, brings you to the beautiful coast line of the Costa Brava and our little paradise of the Hotel Llevant. A family owned business where a little French bulldog called " Boss" seems to be in charge. With balconies from most rooms looking directly out on to the sea front  of a small bay with pine trees on the ragged cliffs to each side. For the fourth time in autumn or winter we have been for a break and its charm works on us each time. I went to the lift opened the doors and Boss came walking out on his own. He must have been sent down from the top floor by the elderly owner of the Hotel, and Boss then went out for his morning constitutional ending up at his favourite pine tree. Later in the day the owner is down in the bar with Boss at his side. Two middle aged brothers and their wives run the Hotel and nothing is too much trouble. They saw that we had been swimming and had brought our own towels, but said to us if we wanted more dry towels thay would give us them, no extra charge. The Hotel is comfortable and the staff charming.
We got talking to a passing Englishman when sitting at the sea front terrace and he told us a lot of the past history of this very smart resort, which has developed rapidly in the last twenty years but in the right way, no skyblocks here.
Apparently Jose Carreras lives around the corner and often helicopters in, we did notice a helicopter yesterday at the other side of the bay.
When we first started coming to this area we always used to stay at the Parador at Aiguablava which is very nice but this Hotel is not as impersonal.
For me I would like to write a picture book of " Boss the  Spanish Hotel Boss" but it would need a catchier title.
The Hotel is called Hotel Llevant at Llafranc and it is much better to book direct, the owners speak English, www.hotel-llevant.com The Hotel tells me they are closing for their holls the month of November but will be open the rest of the winter. If you decide to book please quote that you have read about it on TAG as they are considering adding TAG into their publicity budget.
We notice each morning a boat going out with divers and checking it out it is
Triton Diving  diving@tritonllafranc.com  or check the website  www.tritonllafranc.com
The diving school is also open  all winter
