A good chasse story

Hunting on the heights above St Antonin, Gaillac chasseurs saw a sow sanglier escape, but leaving her litter in the safety of the thickets. However, one of the 2 day old piglets sought refuge at the feet of a chasseur. His heart moved by the plight of the "marcassin", the chasseur, with the OK from the hunt leader, took the youngster to a friend at Tessonnieres who fed it by hand for several weeks. Once it was old enough it was released into a protected "breeding" area. But this little chap, called Fredo, is rather tame and approaches the 4x4 of the warden, answers to his name and rolls over when tickled.
The warden says that Fredo is too tame to be released into the wide world where his friendliness would undoubtedly get him killed in the first "battu". He now spends his time in his domaine, eating his fill and servicing any passing sow. Fredo is now 18 months old and weighs in at 65 kilos. "I've known worse destinies" sighs his rescuer. "Hands off Fredo" is now the motto of the members.
