This winter, December-February, has been exceptionally mild, according to figures released by Meteo France. In fact the mildest winter since records began in 1900. The average high temperature was 8°C, some 2.6° warmer than average. The result is due largely to December temperatures which were warmer than the average for March. Frosty days have been about half the norm and the rainfall has been unevenly divided - virtually none in December, more than average since then. And in the south we have had less sunshine than usual.
