T&G chasseurs positive report

The official chasse (hunting) season closed on Monday evening and the association president says that a satisfactory season was had. Some 2600 sanglier were killed (up from 2200) and 6300 chevreuil (deer), a stable total. The federation has 7880 members and holds training courses at Realville, which he says accounts for their steady membership. Most of the cases for which they paid compensation involved damage by sanglier, though this was well under control in most areas (still some problems around Lomagne).
The federation hopes to purchase a lake in Castelferrus (near Montauban) to create a bird migration observation centre.
