Just the thing today

A cold winter's day demands a warm comforting bowl of food - and what better than cassoulet. The archetypal south west France dish is on many restaurant menus at this time of year, and has apparently become the plat du jour in many smart New York eateries. With the influence of top French chefs in the city, New York even had a National Cassoulet Day. The Huffington Post's Europe version imagines that as so many American fashions spread here the French will soon be thinking that cassoulet is the latest transatlantic gourmet must-have meal.
Do you remember comedian David Lowe's attempt to persuade the folk of Castelnaudary that cassoulet was actually invented by the English? See it here: http://tag-on-line.blogspot.fr/2011/11/is-cassoulet-really-british.html
