A poll by the weekly magazine L'Express asked readers what their new region should be called. in amongst the frivolous (Segoland, Apoil etc) some serious suggestions were made. In our two regions, Midi Pyrenees and Languedoc Roussillon, many suggestions were simply a mixture of the four words in some order.
But the most suggested was "Occitanie", a link to the old language of the region. Those of you who attended the talk at Laguepie last week (July 14th) will know that actually there was no region called Occitanie, but that the language covered a much wider area than just that covered by our two regions.
