My friend Kathy and I are the new owners of the English Bookshop on the Rue de la Pelisserie, We completed the sale just over a month ago and opened last week.
We wondered if you could mention us on Taglines, we have heard so many good things about it.
The bookshop will be open all summer and we are hoping to gather a small group of willing volunteers to open it occasionally during the autumn months as neither of us live in France and both have jobs, lives, families in England still demanding our time and attention!
We will be running the bookshop on a not-for-profit level. Any profit we make during the summer will go directly to charity. This year we have chosen The Heal Project in Zambia. This is an orphanage for children who are not only HIV positive but also have TB.We hope to be able to to change the charity each year - suggestions welcome! We are hoping that our charitable status will not only boost sales but also book donations.
We are open daily Wednesday to Sunday. Please come and introduce yourselves, we are thrilled to meet people, everyone has been so welcoming and friendly.
Kind regards,
Isobel
Val says what a marvelous project and I am sure we will have lots of books that can come your way.
We do arrange a free monthly book swap every first Monday of the month but we do have lots of books left over. We are however planning helping the Parisot Book festival Festilit which is in October. I have agreed not to hold the book swap in September and October so that people will buy books from their Giant Book sale they have planned.
After that I am sure we will do what we can to help. I will pop in to meet you.
