Prepare to be bombarded

We are all used to the telephone calls from people who claim to be working with "the minister of the environment" and saying we can save money on our fuel bills. Always turns out to be installing solar or photovoltaic panels.
Now the minister herself has announced a raft of measures promising tax credits for work to improve insulation, up-grade old boilers and invest in renewable energies (such as solar panels). It is her aim to try and make France more self sufficient by reducing energy use and increasing renewables. So you are likely to receive even more calls. But it seems that they are almost exclusively for solar panels,  rarely for roof insulation, double glazing, new boilers or even electric or hybrid cars which will also be aided.
You may well want to take advantage of the tax credits which may be as much as 16000 euros, but consumer organisations suggest you resist the telesales and make your arrangements through well-known and established firms, who may be a bit dearer, but who will be less likely to "rip you off".
